As some of you know, Munich in Germany is my home town. That’s probably the reason why I refer to it as one of the most beautiful cities in the world. If you’ve ever been to Munich before, you’d probably agree with me and if you are still in for a visit, then you’ll see what I mean in due course. Munich is rich in history and culture and has got a unique flair like no other city in Germany.
Yes, Munich is known for its beer festival the “Oktoberfest”, but it’s also nice to experience the beer culture in one of the many traditional beer gardens around the city during summer.
Veganism is quite big in Munich, so you will be spoilt for choice with many vegan only eateries, that can be found in various parts around the city. I will do a separate blog post on where to eat out in Munich later this year. First I want to tell you where you can stay whilst exploring the Bavarian capital.
I’ve recently spent some weeks in Munich and found a real gem when it comes to staying in Munich as a vegan. The Relexa Hotel Munich welcomes vegan visitors with open arms in a prime location, in close proximity to Munich’s central station & the “Oktoberfest” grounds. Being a Munich born, I can tell you it doesn’t get any better than that. Within walking distance you can explore Munich’s city center with various shops and attractions.
The stylish four star hotel offers a total of 121 rooms in different categories (comfort, superior & suites) and was built in lines with ecological principles. All rooms are modern and offer vegan facilities. How amazing is that? I’m usually happy if I can get vegan food at a hotel but a “vegan room”? The Relexa Hotel Munich has taken things to a whole new level here and I really hope that other hotels will follow. To give a few examples: the carpets are made of renewable resources and no silk, wool, or any animal derived glue on furniture/wallpapers have been used. To give you a peaceful vegan sleep in your comfortable bed, no feathers can be found in the duvets and pillows. Since the hotel is in the center of town, sound-proof windows ensure a relaxing stay at all times. I truly love the décor and clean feel of the rooms.
My female readers will be happy to hear that the Relexa Hotel Munich has got a ladies executive floor. Here you’ll find 11 lovingly furnished rooms that have been tailored to the needs of modern women. Decorated with a feminin touch, you’ll find yoga mats, fresh fruits, wellness products and magazines in your room.
Let’s come to the important part of a hotel stay: BREAKFAST
The Relexa Hotel Munich advertises a varied breakfast buffet with regional products and vegan options. Curious as I am, I tried it out for you on a cold winter morning in Munich the other day and let me tell you, it’s amazing. Take a seat in the cosy breakfast room and enjoy many vegan delights from the dedicated vegan section of the buffet. The buffet looks appealing with attention to detail and I loved the fact that the plant-based spreads for the bread are home-made. The bread selection is typically German – overwhelming, so I opted for a traditional pretzel bun. I like my coffee black these days, but you can of course order a soy cappuccino etc.
For the health conscious, plenty of homemade fruit/vegetable juices and a big selection of fresh fruits are on offer. Not forgetting the soy yogurt in a jar. I love buffets where I can just tuck in for hours.
One of the highlights was the warm and comforting rice pudding. If you are more in for a hearty breakfast like me, then definitely try out the potatoes and roast vegetables. If you are gluten intolerant, the Relaxa Hotel Munich has got you covered as well. This breakfast will give you enough fuel for the day to explore Munich and its surroundings.
The friendly and knowledgeable team at the Relexa Hotel Munich will ensure that you have a comfortable stay and can also assist with dinner recommendations of the many vegan/vegetarian places that Munich has to offer. As the name already reveals, one can truly relax at the Relexa Hotel.

Well done to the Relexa Hotel Munich. I can only praise the team here for building a hotel with ecological principles and for going with the future, creating vegan room facilities and an amazing vegan breakfast buffet. I will be back for sure.
Disclaimer: I’ve been hosted for the breakfast at the Relexa Hotel Munich and all opinions and images in this article are my own. Rooms at the Relexa Hotel Munich have vegan facilities but in other areas of the hotel you’ll find ‘non vegan’ items etc. Please note that the Relexa Hotel is not a ‘vegan only’ hotel.
